I was driving through a blizzard one night, hands clenched, white knuckled, as I struggled to see the road in front of me. The entire time thinking, “this is crazy, why am I risking my life?”.
I was on the way to a potluck, with friends I rarely get to see anymore. The conditions were barely driveable, but I had worked for 2 hours on a delectable batch of sausage rolls, and I wasn’t about to turn back.
I finally got to my destination. One by one, the other brave travellers started showing up, each carrying their own delicious creations. The smells wafting and blending together, accompanied by the sound of popping corks, marked the commencement of this unlikely occasion.
What had brought us all together on that treacherous night? The love of food, drink, and the company of old friends.
Although I am a nutritionist, food to me, is much more than simple nutrients. Food has a soul, it is comfort, emotion and culture all wrapped up into a delicious bundle. Food brings people together, and is meant to be enjoyed.
Braise Yourself is a tribute to what food means to me. I want to share with you my unapologetic love for food, and offer realistic advice that can help you eat healthier AND more deliciously.
What a good writer. Must take after your mother.
